About
Miri Azouri
Miri Azouri draws inspiration for her works from human nature and from everyday life. Miri believes that the human body is a rare creation, and exploring it is fascinating and infinite.
With regard to the wire mesh sculpting which she has focused on for the past few years the artist says: "The most exciting thing is seeing the tension between the mass of the sculpture and its movement in space. I particularly like the contrast that is created between the hard metallic material and the emotion-filled objects that are produced from it."
History
Miri Azouri was born in 1966 in Israel, where she lives and works. After completing her studies for B.A degree in Political Science, B.A degree in Communications and M.B.A at Tel-Aviv University, Miri worked in public relations consulting, marketing and management. After achieving her personal goals in those fields, Miri chose to turn to her greatest love-sculpting.
She began studying sculpting in 1995 under the direction of sculptor Harry Baron. Miri studied sculpting in the Art Workshops of Tel-Aviv Museum of Art, under the guidance of sculptor Zvi Lachman. Miri sculpts using a variety of different materials and techniques, such as wax, plaster, clay and wire mesh.
Currently Miri is a full-time artist, in addition to volunteer work in which she believes.
